IRS Tax Extension for 2013
You can file any time for an IRS tax extension for 2013. Federal Income taxes are due Monday, April 15, 2013. Tax extension forms are due the same day. In other words, you have to submit something to the IRS on April 15, whether it be your actual income tax return or the IRS extension form 4868.
For 2013, since tax due date is on a Monday, taxpayers will have an entire weekend to work on their federal income tax returns, then get it in the mail or submit the forms electronically by Monday. For those of you who still like to mail paper income tax returns, you must have your taxes postmarked the 15th of April. Expect long lines at the Post Office!
An IRS tax extension for 2013 will give taxpayers who file the form until October 15, 2013 to get the paperwork submitted. If you are due a refund then the sooner the better to file your taxes. Not only will you get your money sooner, you will also reduce the risk of fraud. If you let the IRS hold on to your tax refund there is a chance someone else can claim it under false pretenses.Comments and Questions
